Flynn Fellows Attend Prestigious APHON Conference

Each year, as part of our continuing professional development program, we sponsor recent Flynn Fellows to attend various industry-leading national conferences. Meet our Fellows who recently attended the prestigious APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) Conference Sept. 16-18 in Memphis, TN and hear what they say about their experience.

“As a senior nursing student this experience was memorable in so many ways and further strengthened my passion for pediatric hematology and oncology. I am incredibly grateful to the Flynn Foundation for this opportunity and for allowing me to be part of such a meaningful experience!”

Beatrice Sierra, Eastern Connecticut State University, 2026 Flynn Fellow at Connecticut Children’s

“Attending the APHON Conference enabled me to learn from some of the brightest minds in pediatric hematology and oncology while celebrating the field itself. I left each session feeling inspired and amazed at how much information I could absorb in just three days! The conference broadened my perspective, connected me with leaders in the field, and offered insights that I know will shape my practice for years to come.”

Caroline Oswald, University of Scranton, 2025 Flynn Fellow at CHOP

2026 Flynn Fellows Beatrice Sierra, Caroline Oswald, Catrina Zinni attend the 2026 APHON Conference.

“Having the opportunity to attend this conference as a student was incredibly valuable to my growth as an aspiring pediatric hematology/oncology nurse. The knowledge, connections, and memories I gained at the conference are things I wouldn’t have been able to obtain elsewhere. I was able to experience the heart and innovation that is the foundation of this field through engaging presentations, exhibit booths, and poster projects, while connecting with other nurses and organizations from around the country.”

Suffice it to say, our Flynn Fellows Community was well represented at APHON!
