Other Professional Development Initiatives & Educational Opportunities
In addition to our well-established and expanding Oncology Nursing Fellowship Program, we provide a variety of continuing learning and educational opportunities to our program grads, including regularly sponsoring attendees at several industry-leading conferences (e.g. Oncology Nursing Society’s annual Congress, APHON annual Conference, Schwartz Center’s annual Compassion in Action program, Molloy University’s annual Palliative Care conference, etc. )
Jonas Flynn Oncology Nurse DNP Scholars program
An important relatively new initiative is the Jonas Flynn Oncology Nurse DNP Scholars program, a unique graduate education scholarship we established in partnership with Jonas Nursing & Veterans Healthcare focusing on clinical practitioners in the Oncology Nursing field. This scholarship program, which is exclusively available on a competitive basis to Flynn Fellowship program graduates, provides 1-2 year annual $15,000 scholarships to former Flynn Fellows who are pursuing their doctoral degrees in clinical practice (i.e. DNP degrees). Since its inception in 2019 we have sponsored a total of 15 graduate students in three Cohorts and awarded a total of $390,000 in scholarships.
The next group of Jonas Flynn DNP Scholars for our planned 2025-2027 Cohort is expected to be selected by June 30, 2025.
