Begin Your Online Courses

ONS “Cancer Basics” Course

Complete this course before your placement begins. It is included with your complimentary one year Oncology Nursing Society membership and covers cancer biology, treatment, symptom management, and survivorship.

You will receive a separate email from ONS with your login credentials.

“ELNEC Undergraduate” Course (Relias Learning)

Complete all six modules before your Fellowship begins. This course introduces core principles of palliative care, including pain and symptom management, communication, grief and loss, and end of life care.

Review the Required Reading

If you have not yet received copies of Being Mortal by Dr. Atul Gawande and The Conversation by Dr. Angelo Volandes, please check with your Hospital program manager, who has copies available for distribution. These books are essential reading for your Fellowship and provide important context for the work you will be doing.

Expect an Introduction to Your Mentor

You will soon be contacted by your Flynn Fellow ‘mentor’. This is a past participant in our Fellowship program who will serve as a resource for questions, advice, and support throughout your Fellowship and beyond.

Learn About the Student Ambassador Role

As part of the program, you will be invited to represent the Flynn Foundation at your school during your senior year. We will follow up with details about the Student Ambassador role, including expectations and how to get involved.
